Who designed Sector 41?
Mike Lachtanski and Dave Long are the main designers of Sector 41. Although a lot of credit must also be given to the many play-testers we have had over the years and the final released version of the game itself has been influenced by many, many people.
How many copies were produced?
The 1st Edition of Sector 41 is 1500 copies.
How many signed & numbered copies are there?
There are 30 signed and numbered copies.
Can I buy the regular version and have you sign it?
Of course; however, the original number of signed & numbered copies of the game will not be compromised after the fact. We will continue to offer signed copies of the game to anyone who wants one, but there will be no numbering. Allow a couple of extra days for shipping if you ask for a signed copy as it is extra work to prepare one.
Will there be any expansions?
That depends on how many copies of the 1st edition we are able to sell. We are a new company and it is expensive to get off the ground. The plastic insert inside the box provides additional storage space for more tiles and we hope that we will indeed be able to fill that space someday.
I live in Europe, will I be able to purchase the game?
Yes. Sector 41 passed all required safety testing and carries a CE Mark in order to be sold in EU countries. If you live in Europe you can contact us via e-mail for a shipping quote if you'd like to place an order.
Doesn't the random tile placement mean luck is a big component of the game?
Not really. The random tile placement means that every game is different, but strategy and tactics will win out over luck in the end. A skilled Sector 41 player knows they have the tools to deal with any adversity that arises. It is sometimes hard for new players to see this, but it is true. That is not to say that luck has no bearing on the game, it does indeed, but it is not the main factor in deciding who wins.
Why does the box say best with 2 or 4 players?
The nature of the game is such that it is easiest for opponents to hinder and balance things against each other when seated across from one another. In the 2 and 4 player games this is the case. In a 3 player game one person has no opponent directly across from them and this player has an advantage. It is recommended that when playing with 3 players that the two most experienced players sit across from each other.
When was Sector 41 officially released?
The official release date was April 27, 2009.
Since Sector 41 is a game about alien races, were any aliens involved in the creation of the game?
To the best of our knowledge there were no aliens were involved in the creation of Sector 41; however, some of our play-testers were indeed quite odd. We have our suspicions, but nothing we can really prove at this time.
